Any kamae without functionality is useless. Effectiveness of its function or used is based on practicality. Does it adapt to the situation in which it was designed? Terrain, equipment, weather and others which are factors in determining performance parameters.

Outdoors engagements ( battlefield setting) where the terrain are uneven requires a different kind of footing. Stances are lower to make center of gravity much closer to the ground for stability. Effective position is the key to survival while maintaining overall awareness.
