⒈ Why did you major in Kendo?
The University of San Carlos tertiary level are required to take up local or foreign martial arts for sports and cultural study. We are glad that Kendo is part of our Physical Education program through our Physical Education teacher which practice Kendo in Cebu City.
⒉ What do you want to learn the most through Kendo?
The thing that I appreciate about Kendo is that it allows you to improve yourself. You discover its beauty as you venture on your journey, and while you're at it, you're able to realize how it has impacted your life. You would see how much you have changed and how much it affected your perspective in life.
⒊ How would you like to apply what you learned in the future?
Kendo practice is arduous process. A lot of tiring exercises and repetition to polish the movements. The idea is to go through hardships in training to forge people to overcome difficulties and challenges in life.
⒋ Do you think you can learn Kendo and contribute to your own country?
Perseverance and patience are the key to be successful in a Kendo journey and in life. Courtesy, manners and discipline are important things to observe in the dojo, and hopefully extends outside the training area and into our lives of the individual and to the Filipino society.
⒌ Is there anything we Japanese can cooperate with?
Yes, we really appreciated the presence and consistent visit of Ikeda sensei in our university for the past years. His presence is a moral booster for us Filipino students taking up Kendo. Our Physical Education department is grateful for the donated equipments from AJKF so that we may further improve our kendo beyond the purpose of health/fitnes, and someday our Kendo can be at a higher level of understanding both competition and philosophical aspects. .
