Colin Hyakutake Watkin Sensei - Our teacher
Sensei started Budo/Kobudo in the UK in 1964 (56 years ago). A karate/jujitsu yudansha. Started Kendo in 1968 (52 years) Primarily under Fujii Okimitsu who had been captain of the Hosai University team after WWll. formed Cornwall Kendo/laido Dojo in 1975. Sensei's passion in budo led him to Japan in 1980 with shodan Kendo/laido. Primarily training under Sakai Yoshizo at Kenseikai Dojo Saga. Stopped grading with ZNKR in 1989 with Godan Kendo Yondan laido but continued grading with the Butokukai and ZNIR. Began to concentrate on Koryu and Battojutsu. At present Hyakutake sensei's other qualifications are: Menko Kaiden: Taiko Konoha Ryu Nanadan (7th Dan) Battojutsu-Nippon Todo Renmei Menkyo Dai ju-ichi (Eleventh Generation) Hyoho Niten Ryu Shihan Dai ju-ni (Twelfth Headmaster) Choken Battojutsu Kageryu. Teachers/Mentors/Activities. Kendo under Sakai Yoshizo. A direct student of Oasa Yuji. One of the last living Kendo Judan. laido under Iwata Norikazu Hachidan Hanshi and holder if two menkyo kaiden MJER HNIR as direct disciple of both the 10th and 11th Sohke. Also Koho Bucho of HNIR Kageryu as a direct disciple of the 11h Headmaster Takamuku. Miyoji Taught Kendo at Saga University, Saga Keisatsu Kan (Saga Police Dojo) Ryukoku Kyushu Campus. Member and competitor in the Nihon Kyoshi Kendo Renmei. Kyushu Kendo Gaikokujin Daihyo. Students winning the team event of the All Japan High School Championships "twice" Others winning the individuals title. 1st Prefectural laido 2nd place All Japan Battodo Taikai.
